My son had never picked up an instrument before enrolling in Dr. Platt's orchestra class. Her passion and love of music are contagious and her class is now his favorite. We are thrilled he has had the opportunity to be motivated and inspired by Dr. Platt! - Anna Horton, parent of student
My daughter, Leah Haynes, studied with Dr. Platt for about 4 years. During that time, Leah flourished not only in her playing but also in the development and appreciation for music in general with Dr. Platt’s guidance. Dr. Platt, from week to week, employed different methods to keep Leah interested and make daily practice less of a drudgery. She is extremely creative in promoting a complete musician in her students. For example, in order to conquer/reduce performance anxiety, she would often overlap her lessons by a few minutes and have her students play for each other including the accompanying parents and siblings. At times, she would recruit her neighbors to come and be an instant audience! She also put together sightreading sessions with more experienced musicians to encourage chamber music and building camaraderie. Her knowledge of statewide competitions and workshops were equally valuable. She was in tune with what Leah needed in order to gain confidence and at the same time just challenging enough to keep her motivated. She’s an excellent clinician and is able to quickly assess and address problematic areas as well as offer suggestions for improvement. - Yoanna Park-Haynes, parent of private student
